The kind of language we use and the tone in which we use it make True Support. It creates the 'feel' of the place. It determines how members experience the site and how comfortable and accepted they feel. It also determines how members interact with each other. Harsh, judgmental words create a harsh, judgmental atmosphere in a forum. One where bullying is accepted and enabled. One where clique forming happens.
We want to avoid this happening to True Support. We want it to be a place where you can figure out your own path in your own time and without any preconceived expectations or judgments.
The Mod Team does its best to ensure the kind of terminology used on other sites to diminish married persons and extramarital relationships does not take hold on True Support. The word filter function is one asset we have to help us with this. If a word has been partially replaced by asterisks, this is the word filter in action. It's part of the on-going effort to keep True Support as the kind of forum we want.
We ALL need to be vigilant in maintaining this atmosphere and in respecting our fellow members, in following the Community Guidelines, if we want True Support to remain a kind and supportive place.
